Feb 18th, 2009 was a momentous day for the Force Recon raiders. Our set team, with the help of a friend, were able to defeat the final 10 man boss current available in Wrath of the Lich King, Malygos in the Eye of Eternity.

This, like all the other raiding fights, takes a lot practice, persistence, and team work. I'm very proud of our team for completing this goal.

The Malygos fight involves 3 phases. In the first, we fight him directly. He is a typical dragon and does quite a bit of damage. At various times during this phase, he throws us up in the air, into a vortex, which does damage to us and also causes us falling damage when it ends. There are also some other mechanics of sparks flying in the air, that if they reach him, increase his damage significantly.

In phase 2, we fight a set of minions of his. While fighting these, we must run to the protection of a set of shields on the ground that spawn in random locations. These protect us from some of Malygos' attacks. All of the minions we are fighting are perched atop hoverdisks that can fly in the air. We must defeat all the minions in order to reach phase 3. Once a minion is defeated, his/her hoverdisk drops to the ground where a member of the raid climbs aboard and take to the skies to fight the remaining minions.

Lastly, once the phase 2 minions are defeated, the ground beneath us shatters, dropping us into the air, where each surviving raid member lands atop a red dragon who has come to help us in the fight. For the last phase, we use the dragon's abilities to fight Malygos. These dragons are similar to the ones found in the "Aces High" daily quest. Once Malygos is defeated, Alexstrasza, the Aspect of the Red Dragonflight appears, as well as a chest with our loot in it.

We were lucky enough to meet her after our fight! It was our fourth day attempting Malygos. And it happened to be our fourth try of the night where we succeeded in defeating him! Sleepy received the Barricade of Eternity and Forgiven received the Necklace of the Glittering Chamber. In addition, 5 of us were able to turn in our quest which started with the Key to the Focusing Iris, allowing us to receive some epic necklaces. There was no body to take a picture of, but here we are, victorious with Alexstrasza:
